Significance of Practical English Usage

In our daily lives, practical English usage has a specific significance that cannot be overlooked.

Because of this, speaking English in everyday circumstances with perfection speaks a lot about our personality.

As we encounter many circumstances on a daily basis, our vocabulary too needs to be up to the mark.

However, I’d want to share with you today some personal experiences I’ve had regarding the consequences of inappropriate communication.

Let’s Begin with…

The word “celebration” conjures up images of guests, plenty of fun, food, and a slew of other details.

And when we talk about preparations, we mean that we plan a lot of things for such occasions.

When it comes to our loved ones’ birthdays, getting the nicest and most exquisite cake is our first priority.

Because this cake, if enjoyed by the birthday boy or girl, may make the special day even more wonderful.

If it isn’t acceptable, it may disappoint the birthday person.

My own experiences with an absence of Practical English Usage

Experience 1.

I recall one event in particular –

I was once invited to my cousin’s 18th birthday celebration. It had been an extravagant party. Everything was in order and well-organized.

Following that, it was time to cut the cake.

Then, she went ahead and began cutting the cake, at which point she spotted pineapple pieces within.

When she witnessed this, she felt both anger and dismay at the same time.

She then started cursing and crying before going back to her room to collect herself.

We were all perplexed… Except for her parents, we couldn’t comprehend anything.

They felt terrible and approached their housekeeper, who had placed the order for the cake.

When they asked why she didn’t tell the baker about their daughter’s pineapple allergy. She said – “I warned man, problem with pineapple, don’t add all,” the housekeeper answered.

Hearing this, the parents were furious, because their daughter had a pineapple allergy, and they had told their housekeeper to warn the baker not to use pineapple at all.

Because the house help hasn’t had any formal education in the English language, she completely misinterpreted the message and forwarded it incorrectly to the baker.

It, of course, ruined the party and the joy.

Experience 2.

Another event comes to mind –

I was in our town’s well-known bakery.

I was perusing their menu, which included pastries and a variety of cakes.

That day, I was craving a pastry. In a flash, my gaze was drawn to a magnificent pastry. In comparison, it outperformed all of the other items.

I wanted to place an order right now. When I looked at the title “Pain au chocolat,” I realized it had a strange name; in fact, I still have trouble pronouncing it.

Apparently, I just informed the server that I wanted it. And I said, “Give me one pastry, this one.” I felt self-conscious and was upset.

After I realized I was not nearly the English Master I had envisioned myself to be.

A big list of terms remained for me to learn.

Then, I just indulged in a mouthwatering dessert, and I thought it would be fun to tell my friends about it and urge them to try it for themselves.

I, on the other hand, was stunned and didn’t say anything.

Due to the fact that I was unable to correctly pronounce its name, I was unable to describe the type of pastry that I had just had.

I put the incident behind me and kept the pastries to myself.

If I’d understood how to pronounce that term, I’m sure I would have been appreciated profusely for treating my companions to a delicious delicacy at the Bakery.

I’m glad I didn’t make a mistake, though. The cost of the pastry was prohibitively high.

I only had enough pocket money that day to have it.

Conclusion

I’d want to emphasize that whichever language you speak; you must study and speak it fluently in the manner in which natives do.

You won’t misjudge people this way, and you won’t ruin any pleasures.

So, if you’re studying English, make sure you learn it correctly and speak it fluently.

And it is critical that you practice saying it without reluctance on a daily basis.

Because you say exactly what you mean.

Sometimes I get the impression that understanding the jargon of astronomy or mechanical engineering isn’t necessary.

The value of having a strong grasp of English language cannot be overstated.

There will be no more embarrassing situations or botched celebrations!
